Upon graduating from law school, Tom worked as a law clerk and later as an associate attorney to Thomas L. Steffen, the retired Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court.

Professional Experience

Tom is an experienced trial and employment litigation attorney, having tried numerous cases to verdict before juries and judges. He has extensive experience handling employment law cases brought pursuant to California and federal anti-discrimination statutes. Tom has tried cases involving claims of wrongful termination, employment discrimination, harassment, retaliation, failure to accommodate disability, failure to engage in the interactive process, breach of contract, failure to pay wages owed, sexual battery, and intentional infliction of emotional distress. Tom's employment litigation experience includes having worked in the employment law department of a national law firm and with a well-respected, boutique employment law firm in the Los Angeles area. Upon graduating from law school, Tom worked as a law clerk and later as an associate attorney to Thomas L. Steffen, the retired Chief Justice of the Nevada Supreme Court. Prior to becoming an attorney, Tom served as a graduate teaching fellow and as an adjunct history professor at the University of Nevada. Tom often says, "I loved teaching history."

Community

Tom is a member of the Labor & Employment section of the State Bar of California and is a contributing writer to the Los Angeles Daily Journal on legal issues affecting employers in California. Tom also lectures on employment law topics to members of the business community and to law students. He has a special interest in disability accommodation issues affecting deaf or hard-of-hearing persons.

Education

Tom holds both Bachelor of Arts and Master of Arts degrees in History from the University of Nevada. Tom's Master's thesis was published into a book by the Rowman & Littlefield Publishing Group. Tom attended California Western School of Law in San Diego, California, where he was recognized on the school's Dean's List and awarded the Academic Achievement Award in Torts II. Tom has been an active member of the State Bar of California since 2005, devoting his practice almost exclusively to litigation work.

Personal

Tom was born and raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. As a child, Tom spent several years living in Hungary on the shores of Lake Balaton. He is fluent in Hungarian. Tom has been a resident of California for more than a decade and currently lives in Pasadena. Tom enjoys the outdoors, cooking, theatre & cinema, and traveling internationally. Recently, Tom traveled to Thailand, China, Costa Rica, Nicaragua, and Vietnam.
