Posted March 7, 2013

The United States Department of Labor issued new regulations regarding the federal Family Medical Leave Act, effective March 8, 2013.

In connection with the new regulations, employers with 50 or more employees must post the updated version of the Family Medical Leave Act Poster, Notice C (with a revision date of February 2013) by Friday, March 8, 2013. The poster must be displayed in a conspicuous location in the workplace where applicants and employees can see it. A copy of the updated version of the FMLA poster can be found at the following link: http://www.dol.gov/whd/regs/compliance/posters/fmlaen.pdf.

California employers with 50 or more employees must also comply with the California Family Rights Act, which differs in some respects from the federal Family Medical Leave Act.
