Professional Experience
Breann “Bree” Cortes is licensed to practice in California and Washington and has spent more than a decade advising employers throughout California. With a background as in‑house counsel across multiple industries, including food service, technology, and healthcare, Bree brings a practical, business‑minded approach to employment law. She partners closely with employers to provide clear, actionable guidance on wage and hour compliance, harassment prevention, workplace violence and safety requirements, disciplinary actions, terminations, investigations, leaves of absence, and I‑9 compliance.
Bree also conducts engaging harassment prevention trainings and regularly updates clients on evolving workplace safety obligations, ensuring organizations stay compliant and protected. Her work is grounded in real‑world experience and a commitment to helping employers navigate complex legal issues with confidence.
In 2025, Bree was recognized by the Pacific Coast Business Times as one of its “Top 40 Under 40” honorees.
Community
Originally from Rialto, California, Bree relocated to Ventura County in 2020 and has become an active member of the local professional community. She serves on the PIHRA Ventura County Chapter Board as Co‑Legislative Chair, where she helps educate human resources professionals on emerging legal developments.
Bree is a founding member of ProVisors (Ventura 4) established in August 2025 and previously volunteered with the Innocence Project. She looks forward to continuing to expand her involvement in Ventura County.
Education
Bree graduated from Eisenhower High School in Rialto, California. She earned her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from California State University, Fullerton, and obtained her Juris Doctor from Concord Law School, graduating with honors.
Personal
Outside of work, Bree enjoys curling up with a good murder mystery, spending time with her husband and son, and going on adventures with her German Shepherd, Riggs.
