Professional Experience
Since 2005, Michael’s practice has focused on civil litigation, including representing a wide variety of clients in disputed employment and business matters. As lead trial counsel, he has obtained successful outcomes for his clients in both state and federal jury trials, as well as bench trials and arbitration. Michael’s experience has earned him the trust of other legal professionals, as he is frequently retained to represent law firms in employment matters. In addition to the State Bar of California, Michael is admitted to the United States District Court for the Central and Southern Districts of California.
As a result of his outstanding efforts on behalf of his clients at trial, Michael has been nominated twice for Trial Lawyer of the Year by the Ventura County Trial Lawyers Association. Recent victories include a complete defense verdict following a nine-day jury trial in a wrongful termination and discrimination case, and obtaining a finding of fraud and breach of fiduciary duty on behalf of his client against an officer and former employee of the company following a bench trial. Michael also recently obtained a complete defense verdict in a federal jury trial in a trademark dispute, as well as a complete defense verdict in arbitration in a case involving alleged disability discrimination.
As part of his practice, Michael also provides his clients with proactive and cost-effective advice for handling workplace issues and resolving employee conflicts. He speaks at various employment and business groups and provides strategic pre-litigation advice to help employers avoid trouble before it begins.
Community
Michael is a member of the Ventura County Bar Association and serves on the Board of Directors of the West Ventura County Business Alliance. Michael is also a member of ProVisors and BNI.
Education
Michael graduated summa cum laude from the University of California, Los Angeles with a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and History. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of San Diego School of Law.
Personal
Michael lives in Ventura with his wife and enjoys hiking and playing softball.
