Professional Experience
Susie represents employers in all aspects of labor and employment law, including discipline and discharge of employees, counseling and documentation, and defense of employment discrimination charges. Her litigation experience includes all areas of employment law, focusing on wrongful termination, discrimination, harassment, retaliation, and unfair business practices.
Susie counsels employers on accommodation, wage and hour compliance and leaves of absence, as well as labor relations issues including collective bargaining (resisting organizing, arbitrations, injunctions, negotiations, contract litigation). She regularly conducts workplace investigations of claims of harassment, discrimination, retaliation, and employee misconduct. Susie regularly trains employers and HR personnel on a variety of labor and employment law matters including prevention of harassment, discrimination, wrongful termination and disability issues.
Susie is a regular speaker on labor and employment law issues. She also conducts group training for employers on various aspects of employment and labor law. She has been a recurring speaker on employment law topics at the National Business Institute.
Community
Susie moved to Ventura County in the summer of 2020. She is excited to become involved in and contribute to the community.
Education
Susie received a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Art History from Wellesley College, where she was a member of the Division III Cross County All Academic Team. She received her Juris Doctoris Degree from Southwestern University School of Law. She is licensed to practice in California and Minnesota.
Personal
Originally from Santa Monica, Susie lives in Ventura County with her husband and two children. During her free time, she enjoys running marathons and going on “runcations,” and spending quality time with family and friends.
