LOOKS LIKE ALPHABET SOUP TO ME...

California provides employees with more leaves of absence (with employers of all sizes) than any other state. To ensure the utmost productivity in the workplace and avoid costly litigation, employers must be aware of the leaves available to employees and the employee obligations an employer can enforce.

In this interactive seminar, employment law attorney Karen L. Gabler will discuss the employer's obligations in handling mandatory leaves of absence. Topics covered will include the following:

  • Expanded leaves for 2016
  • The interplay between statutory leave laws and reasonable accommodation
  • Payment of insurance premiums during leaves
  • Mandatory and optional leaves of absence
  • Eligibility standards for each leave
  • Reinstatement requirements
  • Deciphering PDL, PFL, FMLA, CFRA, ADA and SDI
  • Disability, pregnancy, baby bonding, family leave
  • Injured or ill family members and registered domestic partners
  • The relationship between worker's compensation, the FEHA and the ADA
  • Bereavement, jury and witness duty, school visits, domestic violence and time off to vote
  • Mandatory and voluntary benefits during a leave of absence

To enable us to plan for your attendance, please rsvp at least 24 hours in advance. If you reserve a spot and then later find that you are unable to attend, please inform us in advance so that we may offer your seat to someone else.
