Professional Experience
Melanie has spent her entire legal career in defense litigation, working her way up from law clerk, to paralegal, to attorney. She has represented skilled nursing facilities, doctors, dentists, residential care facilities for the elderly, schools, and nonprofit organizations against claims of medical malpractice, elder abuse, personal injury and wrongful death.
Melanie litigates a broad range of employment matters including defending against claims for discrimination, harassment, retaliation, wage and hour violations, defamation, unfair business practices and wrongful termination. She also assists employers of all sizes with litigation avoidance practices and counseling in an effort to avoid future litigation.
Community
Melanie was born and raised in Ventura County. She is a member of the Board of Directors for the Women Lawyers of Ventura County and currently serves as Secretary. She is also a past President and Secretary of the Ventura County Barristers and a past recipient of the James D. Loebl VCLA Public Service Award.
Education
Melanie graduated from California State University, Northridge, with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology. She received her Juris Doctor degree from Ventura College of Law.
Personal
When not working, Melanie enjoys reading, working out, traveling and spending time with her family.
