Are you ready for 2019?

California courts and our legislative representatives have been busy in 2018, planning new surprises for employers in 2019. Even if you just have 1 employee, you will be affected by these actions. Whether you are a small business owner, HR professional, office manager or anyone looking to keep a business from getting sued, you will benefit from learning how to navigate the complex and potentially confusing roster of legislation you will need to handle.

Topics covered will include the following:

  • Numerous “#MeToo” laws, including a requirement for employers with 5 or more employees to provide sexual harassment prevention training for all employees (not just supervisors)
  • Background check and criminal history regulation changes
  • Minimum wage increasing (yes, again) and overtime updates
  • Independent contractor vs. employee classification under new “ABC” rules
  • Paid Family Leave amendments (this affects all employers… even if only 1 employee!)
  • New training requirements for the hotel/motel industry
