There are a multitude of federal and state leaves of absence laws that California employers must understand and observe. In this informative two-part webinar series, LightGabler LLP employment attorney Kathy Fellows will discuss an overview of the different types of leaves of absence laws, who qualifies for each type of leave, state benefit and pay issues, and potential liability that can result for non-compliance.

On September 11, 2025, in the first session of this two-part series, the focus will be on leaves of absence laws applicable to almost all employers (specifically, those laws that apply when an employer has as few as 1 to 16 employees), including those related to:

  • Workers’ Compensation
  • Victims of crimes
  • Bereavement
  • Pregnancy
  • California Family Rights Act (“CFRA”)
  • And more!

On September 17, 2025, in the second session of this two-part series, the focus will be on additional leaves of absence laws that apply to employers with 25 or more employees, including those related to:

  • School activities and enrollment
  • Additional options related to victims of crimes
  • Drug and alcohol rehabilitation
  • Family and Medical Leave Act (“FMLA”)
  • And more!
